Our History

Today & Beyond

Hope Holding now operates eight strong brands in Tanzania, serving thousands of customers daily through fashion, beauty, footwear, home décor, and lifestyle concepts. Our vision is to expand into major cities across Eastern and Central Africa, transforming Hope Holding into one of the region’s most influential and trusted retail powerhouses.

2019 – 2024 – Continued Expansion

During this period, Hope Holding significantly expanded its footprint, opening:

  • 3 DeFacto Stores
  • 3 Skechers Stores
  • 2 FLO Footwear Stores
  • 3 Bottega Verde Stores

This expansion solidified our position as a leader in multi-brand retail across Tanzania.

2017 – Birth of HOPE Holding Company Limited

A strategic restructuring saw the formation of HOPE Holding Company Ltd, which assumed responsibility for growing and managing key brand divisions:

2015 – Strengthening the Market Presence

New stores opened at GSM Pugu and China Plaza, including Shoexpress and Danube Home— marking strategic entry into home lifestyle and furnishings.

2013 – A Giant Leap Forward

Driven by strong market reception, the company opened nine new stores in a single day at Msasani GSM Mall. This brought renowned brands such as:

  • Women’Secret
  • Flormar

This expansion positioned the group as one of Tanzania’s most dynamic retail forces.

2012 – First Retail Expansion

EARC launched two stores—Babyshop and Splash—at Mlimani City Mall, introducing accessible and high-quality family fashion to Tanzanian households.

2011 – The Beginning

Recognizing a gap in Tanzania’s retail landscape—where customers desired internationalquality brands that were not readily accessible—the founders established East Africa Retail Corporation (EARC). The company secured franchise rights for major Landmark Group (UAE) brands.
